To Celebrate Birmingham Hippodrome’s 125th birthday, on Sunday 25 August, we are opening our doors to all who want to discover more about the theatre’s heritage and history!

The Heritage Open Day will take place during Birmingham Weekender, a four day long free festival of arts and culture in Birmingham city centre, taking place over the bank holiday weekend.

From 11am onwards, visitors are invited welcome to come inside the theatre to experience and take part in an array of free activities! There will be guided backstage tours, self-guided tours of our 125th Birthday exhibition, prop masterclasses, heritage talks and quizzes! Families are invited to take part in the children’s trails where they will have a chance to become a Hippodrome historian and receive a special badge!

The Heritage Exhibition will be viewable from the foyers to the third floor, showing a range of images from musicals, variety performances, dance, pantomime and the changing face of the building since 1895. Don’t forget to visit the Artists’ Lounge on the ground floor to check out posters of Hippodrome Produced work.

Booking will be available in the morning and afternoon of Sunday 25 August in the Hurst Street foyer. The Open Day will run from 11am-5:30pm, please come along and see what is on offer! We look forward to celebrating with you!
