You’re invited: Young Community Drop-In comes to the Hippodrome next week
Come and join us this half term at our first Young Community Drop-In session of the year. No need to book, just drop in!
Developed for young people and in partnership with Dance Consortium, we’re bringing some of the best professionals in the dance industry to Birmingham Hippodrome on Friday 21 February.
From 12pm – 7pm, young people aged 14+ will be able to experience things they’ve never tried before in a chilled sociable environment. We’ll have workshops exploring international touring and producing, facilitating and teaching with using movement and dance, puppetry, costume and making an impact on stage.
The sessions are open to young people of all levels and abilities. As always, this event is completely FREE, there’s snacks, crafts and lots of fun!

Puppetry and Movement with Autin Dance: Learn the basics of puppetry, including how to add breath, focus, and weight to the puppet with Autin Dance Theatre.
Dance Creation with Clint Lutes: Join choreographer and performer Clint Lutes to focus on dance technique and how you can use it to allow for each individual’s personality to emerge.
Costuming Dance and Movement with Nicolai Hart Hansen: Meet Nicolai who trained as a set and costume designer and worked with Candoco Dance Company and Rambert Dance Company.
Producing and Touring Dance with Joe Bates: Hear from Joe Bates, CEO of Dance Consortium. Since 2000, they have organised 53 tours by 30 different companies and have performed to over 800,000 people.
Crafts with Bobbie Petford: Make some Korean inspired crafts in a calm and mindful space with Drop-In returnee, Bobbie.
