Four friends fill the stage with a queer rom-com road-trip musical

Coming of age tale Four Felons and a Funeral is a tale led by a fantastic cast of young actors who bring a lighthearted story of grief and friendship.

From Oxford based, queer musical theatre group GOYA Theatre Company, this play showcases LGBTQ+ representation and non-binary performances, as well as exploring grief in all its stages, but maybe not the stages you may be familiar with.

The premise is that of four friends, Saz, Bex, Millie and Wilf, who steal their friends’ ashes with the aim of pouring them into a vat of Guinness at the beer warehouse.

Millie takes the lead, screeching down the M6 in a Fiat Punto alongside her three accomplices, forty-five packets of crisps and a large decorative urn.

The show not only showcases four wonderful actors; Maddy Maguire, Jordan Broatch, Gabrielle Friedman, Rua Barron but has wonderful contemporary music and book writing from Sam Wolf and Màth Roberts and clever stage direction. All in all, GOYA brings us a very tight and slick performance with comedy and tenderness throughout.
