Birmingham Hippodrome run four youth theatre groups, each with their own specialism. We are committed to providing high quality theatre making experiences to all young people and run our groups with access and inclusion at the heart.
All of our youth theatres, serving young people aged 7-16 years, use joy and play to create unique productions that upskill young people. We often perform here in our own studio theatre, The Patrick Studio, and pride ourselves on having high production values for our youth theatre shows.
All of our groups have bursary places and are open access, meaning we don’t require young people to audition. Places are limited and if all spaces are full, we will have a waitlist for new members.
Bursaries
All of our groups have bursary places and are open access, meaning we don’t require young people to audition. Places are limited and if all spaces are full, we will have a waitlist for new members.
You are eligible for a bursary place if you meet any of these criteria:
• You are currently in care or are a care leaver
• You are currently seeking asylum in the UK
• You are a carer for a parent or sibling
• You are in receipt of free school meals
We have additional financial support for costs associated with this programme which can be discussed on a case by case basis. For example, we may be able to support a young person who doesn’t recieve a bursary placement but needs transport covered due to their access needs.
