Sat 2 Aug 2014, Chamberlain Square Birmingham
For the first time in Great Britain, Brazilian artist Néle Azevedo created a breath-taking display of over 5,000 figures made out of ice. Beautifully crafted ice sculptures were placed on the steps of Chamberlain Square and crowds were mesmerised as the sea of ice figures melted.
Minimum Monument was part of the City’s celebrations commemorating the centenary of World War One. Néle’s work deliberately celebrates the common man; the exhibition honored not only those who fought in WW1 but all those that contributed including families who made a sacrifice.
