Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust Ltd (BHTT) is a registered charity (No. 510842) dedicated to delivering a diverse artistic programme that reflects the local and regional community. We are also committed to making new work and delivering creative and arts educational programmes that support and promote the arts both on and off our stages through deep-reaching participation and community initiatives.
BHTT does not receive any regular revenue funding from statutory organisations. We are deeply grateful for all contributions that help sustain and further our charitable mission and extensive creative and artistic projects. Each year BHTT also has to raise significant funds through donations, grants, and sponsorships to support major capital projects.
We uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and are committed to best practices in fundraising. As a member of the Fundraising Regulator, we pay the annual levy and adhere to its code of practice, which emphasises being legal, open, honest, and respectful as set out in Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice. We comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, Bribery Act 2010, Data Protection Act 2018, Tax and Gift Aid laws, and Charity Commission guidelines.
Accepting Donations, Sponsorships, Memberships, and Partnerships
The Fundraising and Development team reviews potential donations, sponsorships, memberships, and partnerships. Decisions may be escalated to the Board of Trustees, whose legal duty is to act in BHTT’s best interests. BHTT is guided by its Organisational Values in its gift and sponsorship acceptance decision-making process.
We assess all contributions using a scaled, risk-based approach and agreed selection criteria and will only decline contributions if they fail to meet the criteria. The BHTT Board retains overall responsibility for final decisions.
