Information

Due to cast illness, please note that this weekend’s performances (Fri 29 & Sat 30 Oct) will now be performed as a concert version of the production. The company adapted the production in light of this last minute change of cast into this special concert version of Tokyo Rose.

Audiences will enjoy all the songs and dialogue planned from the full production performed by an extraordinary cast of emerging talent, but with reduced choreography and technical effects to tell the true story of Iva Toguri.

Turn back the dial to 1949 with this brand-new musical first performed at Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.

Iva Toguri is charged with treason in one of the most controversial trials in American history. Iva stands accused of being the notorious ‘Tokyo Rose’, a Japanese wartime disc jockey who broadcast Axis propaganda to the Allied forces in the Pacific. But was Iva the villain she was made out to be?

Winner of The Edinburgh Untapped Award and the Les Enfants Terribles Stepladder Award, this electrifying new musical tells the true story of how one strong, American-born woman battled through a journey of self acceptance, only to return home to a dangerously divided nation.

Award-winning Burnt Lemon Theatre, who are new Hippodrome Associates, spit piercing verse in an electric new musical broadcast going live in 5, 4, 3…

Presented by Burnt Lemon Theatre in association with Birmingham Hippodrome and MAST Mayflower Southampton.
