Information

Discover the world behind the theatre curtains in our Hippodrome Heritage Behind The Scenes Tours. Learn about the amazing story of the theatre, from its beginnings as a circus and variety hall in 1899 to the major lyric theatre it is today. Our knowledgeable heritage guides will share fascinating stories from the theatre’s past as you peek backstage and discover what happens in our busy loading bay. You will also get to meet one of our technicians who will explain just what it takes to get a show onto our stage.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that you will get to stand on the Hippodrome stage, due to the different needs of each production, but you will get a behind the scenes experience on every tour.
