Information

“Pull up a sandbag and rest a while,
in this precious place both sober and wild.”

A group from the UK armed forces community are about to arrive on Reparation Island. During their stay they will be encouraged to confront, share and process the stories that have shaped them.

Based on true stories gathered from the armed forces community across the Midlands, this bold and inventive new play by Kevin Fegan (Writer of Obama the Mamba co-produced by Curve & The Lowry and Slave, winner of the Pete Postlethwaite Best New Play Manchester Theatre Awards 2010) invites you to get a glimpse of their world and the beginnings of life on the Island. Combining storytelling, music and poetic imagery, this honest and new production is performed by the UK armed forces community and directed by Christopher Elmer-Gorry (From The Ground Up, Almeida Theatre and Short Changed, Theatre Royal Plymouth).

Bravo 22 Company is an award-winning recovery through the arts programme, successfully organising regional projects for the Armed Forces community.

Reparation Island is made possible by The Royal British Legion and The Drive Project, in association with Birmingham Hippodrome.
