Hippodrome CREATIVE is working with Break Mission to help young people aged 14-25 increase their fitness and develop their break dance skills.
Funded by Sport England, our AeroBreaks project offers free, weekly break dance classes where young people can explore their interest in hip-hop culture by working with professional artists. The project also offers participants the opportunity to perform at our annual B-SIDE Hip-Hop Festival.
We’re really excited to be working with a range of schools, as well as Break Mission and The Lighthouse Young People’s Centre, to bring break dance classes to enthusiastic young people across Birmingham. The sessions will take place in four locations across the city: three schools* and The Lighthouse. The schools we’re working with are Holte School, Holy Trinity Catholic School, and Four Dwellings Academy, which is also a member of our brand-new Hippodrome Education Network. The fourth set of sessions is open to the public, taking place at The Lighthouse at 6-7.30pm on Thursdays during term time.
We hope to see some of our AeroBreaks participants performing at B-SIDE Hip-Hop Festival 2018, so watch this space!
