Rewrites programming partnership brings together new writers
Chosen, a brand-new musical zombie comedy, comes to our Patrick Studio this November. Chosen is a part of Rewrites is a programming partnership between The Lowry, Birmingham Hippodrome, MAST Mayflower Studios and Norwich Theatre, who host a twice-yearly artist work in progress night.
The evening will be a script-in-hand workshop performance for audiences who are keen to take a chance on new musicals. This is the first time that these works are being performed in front of an audience, allowing artists to share their work with new audiences at each venue around the country. The intention is to gather new audiences at the same time as growing the work.
Chosen has been developed by two writers Taiyo Yoshida and Dominic Varney and tells the tale of a zombie apocalypse gone wrong! Sue works in IT and accidentally kills the ‘chosen one’, thus assuming this role herself to ultimately save humanity.
Every performance of Chosen will include a ‘curtain-raiser’ (pre-show performance) from creatives who are part of the Hippodrome’s Musical Theatre Writers Group development programme. They will be sharing their new work for the first time, prior to the musical.
Rewrites: Chosen will take place on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 November, tickets can be purchased here.
