· A DATE FOR YOUR CALENDAR, GIRLS!
· CHARITIES TEAM UP
· MEET THE ORIGINAL CALENDAR GIRL ANGELA BAKER
Cure Leukaemia and Birmingham Hippodrome have recently joined together as Charity Partners for 2010. The partnership will see both charities working together to help support each other’s work through fundraising events, benefiting patients and raising awareness.
Hannah Hallam Development Manager for Birmingham Hippodrome said: “Birmingham Hippodrome is delighted to welcome Cure Leukaemia as Charity Partners. We hope that this is the start of a long relationship and one that will help bring awareness of Cure Leukemia and the theatre’s work to a wider audience.”
Jackie Kelly, General Manager at Cure Leukaemia, added “Cure Leukaemia are extremely proud to become a charity partner of Birmingham Hippodrome. It means a wider recognition and higher profile for the charity and hopefully will lead to an increase in funds for much-needed research into blood cancers. We are looking forward to working with Birmingham Hippodrome throughout the year.”
Cure Leukemia’s first fundraising event takes place at Birmingham Hippodrome on Wednesday 30 June with a performance of Calendar Girls. Calendar Girls boasts a star studded cast featuring Anne Charleston, Gemma Craven, Letitia Dean, Charlie Dimmock, Sue Holderness, Hanna Waterman and Dean Gaffney. The evening, supported by Harvey Nichols Birmingham commences with a pre-dinner drink, followed by a 3 course dinner hosted by Arti Halai. And to make the evening extra special there’s also the chance to meet the original Calendar Girl Angela Baker, (played by Julie Walters in the original film) the lady who sparked a global phenomenon.
Cure Leukaemia supports the Leukaemia Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and is essential to driving forward research through the funding of new clinical treatments, drugs trials, purchasing vital break through equipment and funding the salaries of haematology research nurses across the Midlands.
